It is a common technique used for magazine photo shoots, album covers, official photographs, and now, you can even use it for things like prom, wedding, or birthday pictures. Photo Restoration
Photo restoration uses digital computer technology to take old family or historic photographs and alter them so they can be restored, repaired, retouched, copied, enhanced or resized, all without harming the original print. This ensures that special memories or moments are preserved in time forever, not just existing as paper and chemicals.

Typical changes that are requested or needed include color correction to transform yellow muddy low-contrast images into high-contrast, bold, black-and-white pictures; colorizing black and white photos; removing the paper texture; restoring the image by removing fading; repairing cracks, rips, and tears; and removing stains and molds.
